Fruit & Vegetable Cage FAQs
All our fruit and vegetable cages come complete with their own set of assembly instructions. If these are missing or there's anything you don't understand, call us on 01308 424342 and we will do our best to guide you.
Most of our fruit or vegetable cages come with a 19mm Woven Diamond Mesh Net made from black polyethylene which fits tightly around the cage for a neat appearance. Manufactured from a tough extruded composite material, it adds rigidity and strength with high UV resistance. The 19mm guage let the bees and pollinating insects in but keep the birds and larger pests out.
Depending on what you are growing and the type of pests which can be harmful to your fruits or vegetables, you will need a targeted net for your needs. Browse our sections below to find our best suited options for you.
We offer over 50 different types of nets suitable for all uses from soft knotless netting for fruit cages and bird protection to heavy duty netting and wire netting for enclosures and protection from deer and other animals. You will also find insect netting and woven fabrics which provide reliable protection from frost and wind.
Our tallest cages are our walk-in fruit cages, which are 2m tall with round tubular framework - perfect for you to walk around your crops without bending or injuring your back. Stand straight and walk around easily in our 2m tall cages whilst keeping your medium sized and tall crops protected from pests, birds or animals.
Knowle Nets structures are unique in having swaged ends to the top tubes allowing all poles to be joined directly. The result is a much stronger structure built for many years to come and backed by our 10 year structural guarantee.
As a non permanent construction, you do not need to have a council permission to install a fruit or veg cage on any allotment. However, we advise you read your local council's full allotment rules to be aware of the terms of agreement in regards to cultivation, watering, fencing, gates, access etc.
Build to last, our fruit and vegetables cage structures all use strong, aluminium or steel tubing - galvanised inside and out. The framework is powder coated for a weatherproof finish and comes with a 10 year guarantee.
